Ducks are aquatic birds that live both in salt or sweet water.
Unlike people may think, not all ducks "quack". Only female ducks do that sound, but ducks have other sounds that are produced by females and males.
Ducks vary on size, colour and distribution. Some species are sexually dimorphic while in other, males and females are extremely similar. Brown, gray, white and black are common colours amongst ducks. However, depending on the specie, some males, and in particular cases also females, can have other colours like green or blue. Juveniles are always duller.
Ducks usually have a long neck and a small head. The tail is probably the most talked about feature of ducks, since they remain off the water when they dive the head to fish. There are ducks with small and rounded tails and other with longer and narrower tails.
